Wahoo is taking a big step into the world of running with its latest product, the Wahoo Kickr Run. This smart treadmill is aimed at revolutionizing indoor running, much like Wahoo did with indoor cycling through its Kickr Smart Trainer.

What makes the Kickr Run stand out are its cool features. The RunFree Mode lets you change your pace without using your hands, thanks to sensors and a responsive motor on the treadmill. Plus, it works seamlessly with popular platforms like Zwift and Wahoo SYSTM. This means you can follow structured workouts or run in virtual landscapes with app-controlled speeds. The treadmill’s belt also tilts to the side, making it feel more like you’re running on a real road. And it doesn’t stop there – it even has handy features like a laptop shelf, USB ports for charging devices, WiFi, and an ethernet port.

According to Chip Hawkins, Wahoo’s founder and a big runner himself, the Kickr Run has been in the making for seven years. This shows Wahoo’s dedication to bringing innovation to indoor running. However, getting into the running market has its challenges, especially with the lower costs involved compared to cycling.

Wahoo has faced some tough times recently, with layoffs and credit rating issues. But Hawkins and a group of private investors took control, cleared the debts, and gave the brand a fresh start. While Wahoo has been focusing on indoor cycling, the Kickr Run is their attempt to step into the running world.

It’s still unclear how the Kickr Run will compete with other treadmill giants like NordicTrack and Peloton. Wahoo’s success in cycling innovation suggests they might make a mark in running too.

As of now, you can’t buy the Kickr Run just yet. It’s set to be released later this summer in the USA, and the price is still under wraps. We’ll have to wait and see if the Kickr Run can follow in Wahoo’s cycling success and truly change the game for indoor running.
