The Bishop Moore Catholic standout was part of Florida State’s 2022 recruiting class.

He decided to transfer to Colorado after the first spring in his second season in Tallahassee.

Thomas’ status with the Buffaloes for the 2024 season is “still being evaluated”, as noted in the Amazon Video documentary “Coach Prime”.

During the 2022 season, Thomas played for the Seminoles in two games. He made one tackle where he helped another player bring down an opponent in their victory against Boston College at Doak Campbell Stadium with a score of 44-14. In 2023, he joined the Buffaloes and played in nine games. Despite being a big guy at 6-foot-2 and 295 pounds, he managed six tackles, two of which stopped the opponents behind the line of scrimmage. His standout performance was in a game against Arizona State where he made three tackles and stopped a player for a loss. He even got to play as a fullback during certain short-distance plays on offense.

As for Florida State’s defensive tackle room, they will be missing out on some valuable additions to the mix, including Malcolm Ray and Braden Fiske along with Dennis Briggs.

Right now, the defensive tackle group has about six scholarship players. There’s Darrell Jackson and Joshua Farmer, who are juniors with some extra years of eligibility, then there’s Daniel Lyons, a sophomore with some extra years, KJ Sampson, who’s a freshman with an extra year, and two new freshmen, Jamorie Flagg, and D’ Nas White. We’re not sure what’s happening with Briggs yet, and Ray is looking at other opportunities in the portal.

DJ Lundy, previously a linebacker for FSU, has made the move to Colorado, joining several other former Seminoles there. Derrick McLendon, Brendan Gant, Travis Jay, and Omarion Cooper have also transferred to the Buffaloes from FSU.
