The Christie E3LH projector boasts remarkable features, including the flexibility to operate with one or two projectors for 3D movies. Already gracing over 300 movie screens across 15+ countries, it’s making waves in diverse settings.
The development journey commenced in 2012, with the projector making its cinematic debut in June 2015 during the release of Tomorrowland. Leveraging cutting-edge technology, the on-screen black levels saw a significant improvement (from 2000:1 to an impressive 1,000,000:1), and the color vibrancy expanded beyond the standard DCI color space, thanks to RGB pure laser lights.
Guiding a team of skilled engineers, Mike Perkins collaborated with Brass Roots Technologies, a partnership crucial to the project’s success.
This marks Christie’s third Academy Award, with prior accolades in 1983 for the Christie Ultramittent and in 1998 for the ELF 1-C Endless Loop Film Transport and Storage System. The award ceremony for Mike Perkins is set for February 23 in Los Angeles at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
